Movies:
I’m totally into films…especially the ones that make one think and feel the most. I’ve probably seen way too many of them in my time but here are a few that had a visceral impact on my brain when I first saw them…
Man On Fire
Dead Poets Society
Schindler’s List
The Godfather
Apocalypse Now
The Matrix
Heat
The Usual Suspects
The Bourne Identity
Casino Royale
The Hunt For Red October
Good Will Hunting
No Country For Old Men
Who’s Life is it Anyway?
Gattaca
Blade Runner
Alien
Melancholia
Se7en
The Ring
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo
Architecture:
I was on-track to be an architect…to the point where I wen’t to school for it for more than a year. Then I found out two important things…I didn’t have the artistic background to pull it off and architects typically don’t make very much money. At that point I was sick of being a poor college student so I decided to learn how to earn a decent living and bailed on architecture. I still am inspired by good design and the sense that one gets when being in ‘the belly of the beast’ in a great structure. Here’s the list of practitioners whose work gets me jazzed up…
- Le Corbusier
- Frank Gehry
- Santiago Calatrava
- I. M. Pei
- Rem Koolhaas
- Philip Johnson
- Louis Kahn
- Frank Lloyd Wright
Photography:
The magic of capturing an instant of the field of light we all live in day to day is exciting…no? I’m not well versed in the work of the outstanding artists in this medium but I’ll throw a few names out…along with my gear of choice…
